This year we want to bring something different to the table and engage more with the Incitement tribe – who have been our biggest supporters. Instead of just casually hanging out at the mamak and enjoy our favourite ‘teh tarik’ (frothy milk tea), why not do this in the most Incitement way possible.
Incitement’s Outreach program
Community Manager, Joe, came out with yet another of his brilliant ideas: combining a volunteering experience with meeting the founders of the social cause itself. The Incitement Outreach program was born.
An immersive volunteering experience
This allows a volunteer to fully immerse into the experience, by asking burning questions directly to the creator of the initiative – as a step towards truly taking action on-ground with actual NGOs. The idea is to motivate and inspire volunteers by providing a holistic view of what it takes to change the world through the road less taken, instead of merely scratching the surface of it all.
The power of giving
For this round Kechara Soup Kitchen was selected as the social cause. Kechara has been one of the longest surviving soup kitchens to serve the homeless community in Malaysia – they’ve seen pretty much all there is to see when it comes to homelessness. Hence, this is a great opportunity for the volunteers to engage with the people behind the success of Kechara Soup Kitchen, and witness what the power of giving can do.
By being on the frontline for the registration team of Kechara, volunteers were able to be in direct contact with the forefront issue of homelessness in Malaysia. Volunteers interviewed 100’s of homeless people, exposing them to the many untold stories of homeless Malaysians – shedding a new light on the real problem of urban poverty in Kuala Lumpur.
