Sarah Kay & Phil Kay inspire Malaysians to create positive imact
Sarah Kay and Phil Kaye, performed in Malaysia at Incitement for the 1st time in their careers. Not only did they blow away the 500+ audience with an incredible performance that literally brought a handful of attendees to tears, they also inspired around 50 Malaysians to create social impact for their fellow, but underprivileged country men and women.
It’s called Incitement Serious Action for Sarah Kay & Phil Kaye
The idea was simple: donate your time for a good cause, record a video and upload it to YouTube. By contributing, or taking ‘Action’, you will get free access to the event with Sarah & Phil (worth 149RM) – who are considered to be some of the world’s most respected spoken word poets.
It was just an experiment, but the results were astonishing. 51 people applied for the Action Ticket (that’s 10% of the total event attendees) and volunteers went out to create positive impact everywhere in Malaysia:
– Teaching refugees children maths, and English
– Volunteering at soup kitchens for the homeless
– Handing out roses (Random Acts of Kindness) to strangers in KL
– Painting an orphanage
– Art Therapy for kids
– Packing food to help flood victims in the east coast of Malaysia
– Many, MANY more…
Here’s a highlight video of some the social impact that was created by Malaysians:
Leading event organizers adopt Action Ticket
Best of all, the Serious Action campaign is now inspiring other event organizers to do the same, creating a ripple effect that will benefit Malaysians all across the country.
One of the most prominent, and leading events in Malaysia, TEDxKL, is now also implementing a similar initiative called ‘Patron Tickets‘, or Buy 1 Give 1. For every ticket you buy, one ticket will be donated to a student of an NGO or charitable organization, giving underprivileged students a chance to attend amazing events, such as TEDxKL.
Get your ticket for TEDxKL here and you’ll not only gain access to one of the best events in Malaysia, you will also contribute to a brighter future for underprivileged students, continuing the ripple effect inspired by Sarah Kay & Phil Kaye at Incitement :-)
Thank you Sarah & Phil! For your amazing performance in KL, for inspiring Malaysians to do good, and for setting the example for other event organizers to come :-)
